Gutter Cleaning In The North Shore – What Equipment Do You Need?

Are you looking to do some gutter cleaning in Sydney and wondering about what equipment you are going to need? Well that depends on which method of gutter cleaning you are using to clean out your gutters.  One tool or procedure may be quicker for you based on how much build up you have in your gutters or how easy it is for you personally.

For all gutters, the essential equipment includes gloves, ladder (at least 10 feet) and a bucket.  Below are the four unique approaches people use to wash out their gutters.

How to Clean your Gutters at Home

Leaf Blower Method

The first technique is to use a leaf blower to blow build up out of the gutters.   The method is quick and works exceptionally well for dry gutters.  The only downside to this method is that it may take a long time to clean up the mess below.  A gas-powered blower will typically provide you with more energy than an electrical one and be a tiny bit quicker. If you are not too keen on having to clean up the mess you will be making on the ground though; then this method is obviously not for you.

Vacuum Cleaner

Another approach to clean your gutter would be to clean them out with a wet dry vac.  The beautiful part is all the mess from the gutters is contained inside the unit.  The downside is that the Vac is heavy and in case you have a whole lot of gutter build up, you may need to empty it quite often. Working with full-sized vac can also make the job tricky so approach this method with caution.

Many people argue that the mentioned above not dangerous at all so you might have a different experience.  For example, leaves are a ton lighter than pine needles, so if you have many leaves, this might be an excellent method to clean out your gutters. Here is another tip on producing an excellent gutter cleaning tool: cut a milk carton to a scooper with a handle and utilise this to scoop out debris from the gutter.

Rake and Bucket Method

The 3rd method is often the one favoured by contractors like “Gutterboy“. The method calls for the use of a gutter cleaning rake in conjunction with a ladder and a bucket.  It is safer to operate from a ladder than in the roof.  Also, the rake allows you five extra feet of expansion on either side of the ladder.  Doing this enables you to do the job faster without putting yourself at risk. The absence of power tools also makes the job more energy efficient although you do have to be careful whenever moving the bucket into position.
